I have a great respect and hope for Wairoa, and I feel this is the energy I bring to my mahi.

I have been the Chief Executive since 2011, and my wairura and aroha for this community is as strong today as it was then.

Together, the Trust and now Enabled Wairoa, has been instrumental in identifying trends and issues in the Wairoa Community.

We have worked hard to increase the support to its people, while striving to deliver a higher quality of service and support to Whanau in crisis.

Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā ra tatou katoa

Kia Ora e te whānau o te Wairoa. I am a Wairoa born and bred tane who absolutely loves our rohe and its people. No matter where you go or how long you’re gone, Wairoa is always home.

My work history is what you might call eclectic, having spent time in Construction, Decorating, Security, and most recently with Wairoa Probation. Having spent the majority of my working life around Gisborne and Napier, I finally decided it was time to move home and give back to my own community who helped make me who I am today. Coming home I was able to reconnect with my whenua, maunga, and awa, reconnect with Te Ao Maori, reconnect with my hometown, and now I have the chance to reconnect with its people. Throughout my time with Community Probation I developed a passion to help support our people to be the best that they can possibly be, and to, in turn, strengthen and uplift their own whānau to be better.

I have recently accepted a position within Enabled Wairoa as a Kaimahi where I look forward to working alongside our whānau as they strive for greatness in their respective journeys.

Sharlene Wairau

Tena tatou,

I was born in Wairoa and raised in Invercargill until the closure of Ocean Beach Freezing works in 1991, relocated the Mahia as my parents wanted us to experience the life that they once lived.

Married to Joe Wairau with an blended whānau that consists of four adult sons, one adult daughter and many mokopuna.
My previous roles were in retail, security, social sector and  finally administration that I have held for the last eleven years.

All four roles have contributed my awareness of the community and whānau that reside within it.
Administration is the background assistance to any Organisation, to support staff, agencies and whānau.

I am looking forward continuing to support our community, our whānau.
Raewyn Withey

Raewyn Withey

I was born in Masterton, raised on the outskirts of Dannevirke, also I have lived in Dannevirke and Hastings.

I am married with three adult children and seven grandchildren.

In my previous employment I was involved in the retail sector, and enjoyed meeting and working with the public.

Five years ago, my husband accepted the role of Sales Manager at Property Brokers Wairoa, and we enjoy the lifestyle Wairoa has to offer and the closeness to the beaches, river and lake.

The last four years I was employed as a property manager and during this time I enjoyed all aspects of my position, but I discovered my real passion was working and helping whanau specially to help whanau secure their own whare to call home.

I was very privileged to be offered the position of Kaiarahi Whanau.I am ready for the new challenge ahead of me to help whanau navigate through the process of obtaining their goal to have a whare of their own.
